Laid Back and Lazy is the Northeast Ohio-based country duo of AJ and Sean—two singer-songwriters whose paths crossed after years of independent grinding in Nashville. Both Ohio natives, they spent their early careers writing and performing for publishers and recording artists in Music City, never crossing paths until returning home. A serendipitous introduction in Northeastern Ohio ignited an unbreakable musical bond and friendship, leading to the formation of Laid Back and Lazy in 2014.

Their signature sound is a refreshing take on laid-back country: heartfelt, relatable lyrics wrapped in chillaxed grooves that draw from an eclectic mix of influences. Think Dave Matthews Band’s jam vibes, Jack Johnson’s island ease, Jimmy Buffett’s escapism, classic country storytelling from Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Vince Gill, Montgomery Gentry, and Eagles, blended with 80s rock, 90s grunge/rap (Soundgarden, Nirvana, Beastie Boys), Hootie & the Blowfish, and Barenaked Ladies. The result? Music that’s fun, approachable, and perfect for kicking back—whether on a riverbank, at a bonfire, or cruising back roads.

AJ and Sean are genuine, down-to-earth guys who live what they sing: fishing, family time, relaxing, discovering new places and experiences, learning new things, and meeting new people fuel their creativity and energy. Their philosophy is simple—keep it light, laid back, and a little lazy. If the duo’s having fun onstage, the crowd feels it too.
